So, basically, when do we use tables?

I mean, tables should still be utilized when displaying data in an obviously table format, right?

Reason why I raised this question is because I would like to display the data on a page in a table form with borders. I still want my site to be accessible. So long as I don't use Table as my "page layout", I think my site would still be accessible, right? And only if I use Table for displaying data from my database (like first name, last name, etc) in an obviously table format, then I think it's just fine.

What do you think?

What is the standard for displaying data in an obviously table format? Should I use CSS for this or simply Table?

Feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks!

OK I am going to have to let my additude prevail on this.
Every design I have seen so far that is using only CSS and no tables has "side to side scrolling" on a fairly typical 800x600 screen resolution. Could someone please tell me why it is acceptable to have side to side scrolling? I have never allowed this in web design.

Hey,

Can someone tell me if it is possible to cross-format a web design by eliminating tables with only CSS? Can you avoid side to side scrolling for every broswer size with CSS?
I have always loved using tables because they can expand and contract....I may be an old dog.

Thanks
